FIFA publisher EA has reported that its EA SPORTS FIFA 21 Challenge single-day esports tournament set a new viewership record as the most-watched EA-operated esports broadcast. The event generated an average minute audience of just over 254K. This total is more than double the previous most-watched broadcast, the FIFA Global Series FUT Champions Cup: Barcelona in 2018, which generated an AMA of 92.7K.
The Challenge matched esports pros with professional soccer players from Liverpool, West Ham United, Inter Milan, and Borussia Dortmund in two player teams with the winning team claiming $20K USD for charity.
EA has continued to ramp up its support of FIFA as an esport. The publisher recently announced a revamped structure for the scene which will include a $4.3M prize pool.
