With Riot Games’ Valorant picking up steam in the esports scene as it relates to tournament offerings, Evil Geniuses has entered the fray, announcing that it will be fielding a co-ed team to compete professionally–the first in the Valorant competitive space. The team is composed of three men and two women. The team will be led by Christine “Potter” Chi along with Ronan “Osias” Javelona, Nolan “Temperature” Pepper, Claudia “Clawdia” Che, and Aleksandar “Aleksandar” Hinojosa.
Chi is a seven-time Counter-Strike:Global Offensive world champion who has played with teams such as CLG Red and Res Gaming. This new entry into Valorant will mark a return for Chi to competitive esports having competed last in 2019.
Javelona, a native of the Philippines, has quickly risen in stature as a player winning numerous smaller tournaments with Mamba Mode Gaming. Hinojosa and Pepper both played for Moon Raccoons while Che has come through the ranks playing with other, smaller orgs.
Evil Geniuses will join Dignitas, who fields a team entirely of women, in competing in open level events with women in leading roles.
