Evil Geniuses headline North America invites for the DPC Regional League Upper Division

Despite being inactive since September 2020, when they actually competed via European division at OMEGA League, Evil Geniuses are one of the four squads to be directly invited to the inaugural season of Dota Pro Circuit NA Regional League.

Just like in the all other regional leagues, the North America competition will feature a total of 16 teams fighting through Upper and Lower Divisions. Four teams were selected by Valve to receive a direct invite to the Upper Division and given the instability of the scene through 2020, the names appearing on the invite list shouldn’t be too surprising.

Besides Evil Geniuses, who is in fact the only sponsored team, Quincy Crew and 4 Zoomers, who have been the absolute dominant teams in NA, have also got a spot into the Upper Division. Perhaps, the least expected invite is that handled to SADBOYS. The team features both NA legends Clinton “Fear” Loomis and Peter “ppd” Dager, who mounted their comeback to the professional scene last month with the BTS Pro Series Season 4, where SADBOYS placed third. The squad also features David “Moo” Hull and Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu, who competed through the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit before it got canceled.

NA regional league upper division invites:

  • Evil Geniuses
  • Quincy Crew
  • 4 Zoomers

Four more squads will make it to the upper division via a closed qualifier bracket. Again, taking into consideration the state of the NA region, just four teams got invited to the closed qualifier, down from eight as it is in all other regions.

Newly formed stacks Undying, Black N Yellow, DOZE Reborn and 5ManMidas will fight for a spot into the upper division, joined by four more competitors coming from open qualifiers.
