FunPlus Phoenix to acquire Heroic lineup – report

FunPlus Phoenix have made a move into Counter-Strike and will be joining the new FLASHPOINT league according to a report from 1pv.fr.

The organization based in Beijing has acquired the Heroic lineup the report states, adding the Danish lineup to the North American based league. This would make FunPlus Phoenix the eighth team franchise partner of an expected 10. The final two spots were filled by the two teams from the qualifiers.

FunPlus Phoenix was founded in 2017 and currently fields teams in League of Legends, Fortnite, and PUBG. The organization swept G2 Esports in the 2019 World Championship Finals 3-0 to be crowned world champions of League of Legends.

Heroic most recently failed to qualify for the Europe Minor, falling to Heretics and Copenhagen Flames in the closed qualifier. This adds on to a strength of rather lackluster results for the squad which they’d be looking to turn around under the new banner of FunPlus Phoenix.

Should this come to be true, this would still leave three vacant spots in FLASHPOINT which is set to kick off in just a few days. It was previously reported by DBLTAP that Chaos and HAVU have been invited to participate, but there has yet to be an official word from either team or the league regarding their joining.

Another thing worth noting is the uncertainty around Heroics spot in the ESL Pro League which would be left without a roster following this move.

Heroic/FunPlus Phoenix roster:

 Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
 Martin “stavn” Lund
 Johannes “b0RUP” Borup
 Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer
 Casper “cadiaN” Møller

 Frederik “LOMME” Nielsen (coach)
