Banneky.com, an education tech platform focused on middle and high school students, has announced a new educational initiative with its “FIND YOUR SEAT: In Tech, Esports & Entertainment” program. The program is a six-hour online event looking to inspire students into pursuing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers in tech, gaming and entertainment. The event will air on Twitch on June 26 from 12pm to 6pm CST.
This event will feature Microsoft developers, game producers, and content creators, along with gaming and esports personalities. Aerial Powers, Lucas “FaZe Blaze” Mosing, Kris “FaZe Swagg” Lamberson, and Griffin “Sceptic” Spikoski will be in attendance while participating in coding, gaming, and moderated discussions on various careers within the tech, gaming, and content creation spaces.
“The great thing about gaming is it is for everyone. There are many different career paths that are inclusive to people from all walks of life,” said Spikoski. “I am here to help people realize that there is more to esports than just sitting at a computer. If you have a passion here, you can find your career.”
Microsoft and Warner Bros. Pictures will both be in support of the initiative, with the livestream being a mix of panels, live coding, and opportunities to get involved by leveraging family themes and emphasis on innovation surrounding the new film Space Jam: A New Legacy (released on July 16).
FIND YOUR SEAT’s goal for the event “is to create engaging learning experiences” for students interested in the digital future. During the online event, students will be introduced to Microsoft coding tools and a new coding curriculum inspired by the film.
Justin M. Jacobson, Esq., Manager of Ford Models’ Esports and Gaming division, who helped with organizing the talent for the event added that, “It is a pleasure to assist in providing such a wonderful experience with such a great goal in mind. Being able to bring together top gaming personalities to assist in helping inspire youths is always a great opportunity to showcase the potential careers that gaming and tech can provide.”
