Geek Fam are the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League champions

Grand finals were set for ONE Esports Dota 2 Southeast Asia
League as Fnatic’s challenger in the best-of-five would be Geek Fam as the two
teams fought to be champions.

Before the grand finals got underway at ONE Esports Dota 2
SEA League, the lower bracket final needed to be decided – with Geek Fam and
TNC Predator fighting it out for a spot against Fnatic. While nearly every best-of-three
series in the playoffs had gone to a full three games, it was TNC and GF whose
previous series ended in a 2-0, with TNC being the victors. However, the GF
from today were completely different and turned that result around, securing a
2-0 victory for themselves and knocking TNC out in third place – thus pushing
them into the grand finals against Fnatic.

With the two teams set, we jumped into the first game of the
series which would see Marc Polo ‘Raven’ Luis Fausto getting his hands on a
Naga Siren, backed up by a Disruptor and Grimstroke too. While Fnatic held a
small lead for the opening half an hour, once the Naga Siren was farmed, the
combinations came out and destroyed Fnatic at every turn, leading to GF
claiming the first win. But Fnatic adjusted perfectly in the next game,
claiming the Disruptor for themselves and having Nuengnara ‘23savage’
Teeramahanon on a Phantom Lancer. Although there were some errors from Fnatic,
they managed secure a solid lead and tie the series after a 35-minute GG call.

Game three in the series was fairly back and forth, with
both teams claiming the lead for brief periods but Fnatic’s only real hope in
the game was a fantastic Puck from Djardel ‘DJ’ Mampusti. Apart from that
though, Fnatic had no foothold in the game as GF secured a 2-1 lead and seemed
ready to take the series. Picking up the Anti-Mage for Raven in game four, it
was all but over for Fnatic right from the start as they were completely unable
to fight their opponents. Even with a Morphling and Dragon Knight, Fnatic
managed only a total of six kills in what would be the final game of the
series.

Although DJ was there once more to give them a small glimmer of hope, Fnatic seemed to be in shambles and eventually threw in the tower, giving Geek Fam a 3-1 series victory.

With that win, they also become the champions of ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League and secure themselves as one of the absolute best teams in the region.
