In what can only be considered complete domination, Natus Vincere has swept the number one ranked team in the world, Astralis, at IEM Katowice 2020. As expected, Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev led the charge atop the leaderboard.
Meeting on Na’Vi’s map pick of Dust2, Astralis would only manage to get one round out of 15 in the first half. When s1mple’s side won the second half pistol it looked to be a done deal, however, Astralis managed to string four more rounds together before Na’Vi closed it out 16-5 to move on to Nuke.
Much to the dislike of Astralis, things weren’t going much better to start off map two. Even with a pistol round win, the Danes quickly found themselves down 5-1 and ultimately 13-2 at the half. Once again there was a surge at the start of the second half in which Astralis netted three consecutive rounds before giving up the final three to Na’Vi for another 16-5 win.
s1mple would finish the series with a +21 kill-to-death differential at 43-22 with a massive 111.6 average damage per round. Egor “flamie” Vasilyev was next up in damage at 91.3 while Denis “electronic” Sharipov also held a +21 k/d. Only the new player on the block, Ilya ‘Perfecto’ Zalutskiy didn’t go positive as he netted a 0 +/- in the series at 22-22.
Na’Vi will face a fiery looking G2 in the grand finals of IEM Katowice to determine who will be crowned champions and walk away with the lion’s share of the $500,000 prize pool. At this point, both teams are riding high on confidence.
