As a long day of playoff action came to an end at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3, one last series remained between Team Aster and Gambit Esports to determine the first grand finalist for tomorrow.
Gambit Esports had a small slip up in their first series of
the day when they dropped a game to BOOM Esports but the team remained composed
and utilised their home-ground advantage to finish off the series with a victory.
For Team Aster, it was a much simpler path with a seemingly easy sweep of
Alliance as the remained unbeated going into the upper bracket final.
Going into the first game of the series, things remained
fairly even between the two top teams in the Minor this far but the Chinese
squad begun to pull ahead as they found their farm. However, a massive mistake
from Song ‘Sccc’ Chun opened the game up, giving Gambit a window where it
seemed as though they would turn the game in their favour. However, Aster stood
firm and managed to come out on top.
Now on the verge of a series loss, Gambit needed some way to
combat a Sccc Alchemist, which they hoped would be the Naga Siren and Disruptor
combination. The CIS squad decided to completely ignore the Alchemist, leaving
him to farm up a storm but their plan was slowly coming into play.
While the first attempt failed terribly, Gambit got a second chance when Aster pushed their luck, going high ground again. the combo came into effect and another brief window of opportunity opened for the home-ground heroes. Unfortunately, that was not enough to give them a victory as Aster just marched back in and ripped through their opponents.
Still completely unbeaten, Team Aster will move on to the grand final of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Season 3 Minor which comes to a head tomorrow, starting with the lower bracket finals between Alliance and Gambit Esports.
