VALORANT gameplay capture event canceled due to coronavirus concerns

Riot Games has cancelled their plans to have popular gaming personalities, professional players, and more flown out to their Barcelona and Los Angeles locations to play VALORANT in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

This information comes from a tweet put out by Rod “Slasher” Breslau which appears to feature a screenshot of an email that was sent out to those who were expected to attend the events.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel our VALORANT gameplay capture events this month in Los Angeles and Barcelona,” the email reads. “Due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), as a company, we need to stand by our policy of putting Players first, and unfortunately this means steering away from our original plans to meet you in person at our event.”

It’s not completely off the books, however, as the VALORANT team goes on to say “we are working hard on our side to put some finishing touches on a digital solution which will let you get your hands on the game from the comfort of your home setups.”

Recently the coronavirus and concerns around have caused IEM Katowice to be played in the Spodek Arena without a crowd presence as local authorities revoked ESL’s license due to the outbreak.
