Cyberpunk 2077 beta invites are fake warns CD Projekt

A beta for Cyberpunk 2077 sounds to good to be true and it is, as CD Projekt warns fans to beware of scam emails.

There are two important pieces of information here: a) Cyberpunk 2077 is not going to have a beta and b) if you’ve received an invite to one it’s a scam and you shouldn’t reply to it.

Betas are rare for single-player only games but so little of Cyberpunk 2077 has been seen so far – in part because of the pandemic – that an invite doesn’t sound entirely impossible.

CD Projekt has tweeted to say that it is though and that if you receive an email about it you should ignore it. They also point out that their emails are only sent from, but even so that’s irrelevant because there is no beta anyway.

Its popularity is unsurprising as it’s the latest from the creators of The Witcher 3 and given last year’s E3 appearance of Keanu Reeves, who has a starring role in the game, was the biggest moment of the show.

The initial release will be on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC but while there will be patches to improve performance on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 there’ll also be dedicated next gen versions next year.

CD Projekt is promising a multiplayer component, or perhaps a separate spin-off, at a later date – for which there might be a beta – but that’s not going to happen any time soon.
