The Doctor Who VR game is getting a non-VR sequel with the Tenth Doctor, as well as a mobile game all about the Weeping Angels.
Doctor Who: Edge Of Time was a serviceable VR game for fans of the show, though it suffered from being too short and some rather dull puzzles.
The newly announced sequel, however, not only appears to be ditching the VR aspect, but is also serving as a crossover between the current 13th Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, and David Tennant’s 10th Doctor.
The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much outside of the two Doctors and the returning Dalek, Cybermen, and Weeping Angel enemies, but developer Maze Theory promises new gameplay, enemies, and worlds.
As for the story, players will once again be assisting the Doctors in saving all of reality from a series of time-breaking glitches.
While it’s currently only scheduled to release on current hardware, Maze Theory does have plans for next gen console support, so maybe expect a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S release in the future.
That’s not the only game in the works either. Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins is a mobile/Nintendo Switch title being developed by Malaysian studio Kaigan Games.
This one is focused on the Weeping Angels and, once again, has you play as yourself as you find a mysterious phone and team up with Osgood from the show to investigate Wester Drumlins, the house where the episode Blink took place.
As a reminder, Blink marked the debut of the Weeping Angels and is considered one of the series’ best episodes.
Doctor Who: Edge Of Reality will launch in spring 2021 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
