E3 2021: Konami pulls out but promises it’s working on projects

After being confirmed for E3 this year, Konami has decided it can no longer attend, but it suggests it has new games in the works.

Some were shocked to learn that E3 2021 would still be going ahead this year, albeit as a digital-only event. But perhaps even more surprising was that Konami was among the companies attending.

However, circumstances have changed as Konami announced over the weekend that it will no longer have any sort of presence at E3. As for why, it simply stated that it was due to timing.

‘While we are not participating this year, we have great respect for the [Entertainment Software Association] and know that 2021 will be a success,’ it writes.

‘We will continue to support the ESA and wish the best to all participants at this year’s show.’

It adds that it is currently in ‘deep development on a number of key projects’ and asks fans to stay tuned for updates in the coming months.
