Warner Bros. have managed to spoil their own surprise, by accidentally confirming that Ash from Evil Dead is in Mortal Kombat 11.
We say surprise, but Ash’s presence in the game has been an open secret for close to a year now, after a less than subtle hint in a previous DLC trailer.
Way back in June one of the official trailers ended with a splatter of blood and the sound of a chainsaw, when promising two new more DLC characters, which was widely assumed to be a hint towards Ash.
References to the character, the latest in a long line of horror movie icons to cameo in the series, were also found by dataminers, but this latest leak is even more blatant.
Several fans reported being sent an email promoting the current ‘Kombat Pack’ and noticing at the bottom that legal trademark information is included for all the guest characters and… Ash from Army Of Darkness.
We didn’t get the email but unless this is some vast and pointless conspiracy between several fans it seems to be legit and an amusing blunder by Warner Bros.
The reason for the delayed reveal is probably due to arguments over the rights to the character, which have always been complicated, with actor Bruce Campbell at one point outright denying that Ash was in the game.
