Five Bethesda Games Now Support FPS Boost On Xbox Series X|S

Xbox Game Pass recently added 20 Bethesda games to its catalog, but it seems Microsoft has even more news to share. Of those 20 games, five will take advantage of FPS Boost – allowing for improved frame rates and overall performance on Xbox Series X|S.

“Hot on the heels of officially welcoming Bethesda’s world-renowned studios to the Xbox family, we’re excited to announce that five of the biggest titles from their vast catalog of games – Dishonored: Definitive Edition, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Prey – will all be updated today to enable FPS Boost on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S,” announced Will Tuttle, Xbox Wire editor in chief.

“And it’s not just owners of these titles that get to take advantage of FPS Boost; all these titles are available with FPS Boost for Xbox Game Pass members too.”

For the five games listed above, you’ll see an increase from 30fps to “nearly 60fps while enabling FPS Boost.”

FPS Boost is a relatively new feature for Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. This lets games run at higher frame rates and “make games visually smoother” than they were on last-gen platforms. Microsoft first rolled FPS Boost out to a few titles that best showed off the technology, but it’s great to see FPS Boost finally making its way to popular games in the Xbox catalog.

However, the feature won’t be automatically enabled for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, as the team had to reduce their overall resolution to ensure both titles ran smoothly with the feature. Instead, you’ll simply have to toggle the feature on using the main Xbox menu.

If you’re playing any of these five Bethesda games and want to verify FPS Boost is enabled, just tap the Xbox Button on your controller while in-game and look for the FPS Boost indicator at the top-right of the screen.

Microsoft is all-in with Xbox Game Pass, recently announcing Outriders will be available on the service the same day it hits store shelves. And with the addition of FPS Boost and 20 new Bethesda games, there has never been a better time to jump on the Game Pass bandwagon.
