Fortnite Fans Think They’ve Found A Breaking Bad Reference On The Map

Fans may have found yet another pop culture reference in Fortnite. Last week it was a Helm’s Deep reference that may yet presage a Lord of the Rings crossover, and now it’s a Breaking Bad reference that could be the first concrete sign of Gus Fring joining the game.

Out in the desert, there’s an abandoned trailer that shares a few similarities with Heisenberg’s mobile meth lab from Breaking Bad. It has the same color scheme as the 1986 Fleetwood Bounder from the show, and it has the same style of foldout chair sitting outside. Inside you’ll find two beds, two sofas, and plenty of coolers, all of which seem to refer to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s meth cooking operation.

And it may be more than just a casual reference from Epic Games, too. A recent character survey asked player opinions on several potential collabs, and one of them mentioned Gustavo "Gus" Fring, Giancarlo Esposito’s character from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Nothing's been confirmed by Epic, but there's at least one concept artist who's fully illustrated what a Breaking Bad and Fortnite crossover would look like. They've created skins for Walter, Jesse, Gus, Saul, Steve Gomez, Mike Ehrmantraut, Hank Shrader, and more.

There's yet another crossover theory running around on social media. To coincide with QuakeCon, a free Doom64 giveaway, and Doom's arrival on Fall Guys, one Fortnite leaker said that the game will host a Doom crossover event with the Doom Slayer being available for purchase. That was the same leak that also mentioned the possibility of a Lord of the Rings crossover. We have yet to find a Doom reference on the Island yet, whereas the Rock family has a Helm’s Deep diorama right outside their home. Could mean nothing, or it could be a sign of things to come.
