Fortnite is adding an emote for one of the most famous dances in the world, and previously one of the biggest omissions from the game – the Macarena.
The new emote was announced in a Twitter video showcasing several players performing the dance around the island. The Macarena is one of the most famous dances in the world, and was a huge craze in the ’90s and early 2000s. It’s replicated pretty perfectly in Fortnite, complete with the actual track. Come on though guys, you have to jump and change direction on the beat.
At the time of writing, the Macarena emote is available as part of the Icon Series for 500 V-bucks. It’ll only be available as a featured emote for the next 12 hours, before going into the Fortnite archives and being rolled out again at a later date, as is the case for most Fortnite emotes and outfits.
The Macarena being added to the game might not come as too much of a surprise to players keeping a close eye on datamined secrets. After the Invasion update first dropped, several leakers dove into the files to try and find unreleased skins, weapons, and emotes.
Surprisingly, there wasn’t too much to find from the datamine aside from some encrypted emotes. Those emotes included the Macarena, Sweet Victory, and Three Wise Monkeys. The Macarena was fairly obvious as to what it was and has now been added to the game, but Sweet Victory and Three Wise Monkeys still haven’t shown up just yet. Sweet Victory sounds like it’ll be the song popularised by the Band Geeks episode of SpongeBob Squarepants, whilst the Three Wise Monkeys sounds like a variation of the famous ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ monkeys.
Reliable Fortnite leakers like Mech_FN previously stated that the Macerena would be releasing this week and that the other two emotes would be added later in the month, so we’ll likely be hearing about them soon.
