Castlevania Symphony of the Night has just been given a surprise release on iPhone and Android.
One of the best games of all time can be downloaded from the iOS App Store and Google Play for Android.
And despite its status as an absolute classic, the mobile version of Castlevania Symphony of the Night has an affordable £2.99 price tag.
According to Konami, the game has been released to coincide with the launch of Season 3 of the animated Castlevania series on Netflix.
“For the very first time, fans now have access to this all-time classic Castlevania title on mobile devices,” reads a Konami post.
“Players can immerse themselves in this direct emulation of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in all its whip-cracking, demon-bashing glory as they await the March 5 release of Season 3 of the Castlevania Netflix series.”
Developed by DotEmu, the game is said to be based on the PS4 and PSP console ports.
“Utilising high-quality emulation done by DotEmu, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for mobile provides players with the look and feel of the full console experience including stunning graphics and soundtrack,” Konami continues.
Speaking of the soundtrack, Konami has made the score available on Spotify and “other music streaming services”.

Other handy features include full controller support, multiple save states and even in-game achievements.
If you’ve never played Symphony of the Night before, then you’re in for a treat. A masterclass of level design and atmosphere, it’s largely considered to be the best game in the entire series.
A direct sequel to Rondo of Blood, players assume the role of Dracula’s son Alucard, as he explores his father’s castle in search of answers.
“An iconic title within the long-standing Castlevania series, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is an exploration-action RPG where players jump, dash, and slash their way through Dracula’s vast castle, uncovering a deep story filled with fearsome enemies and colourful characters,” reads the official description.
“After Richter Belmont’s defeat of Count Dracula, the vampire hunter vanishes without a trace. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night brings players into a story five years later, this time as Alucard, the son of Dracula.
“In order to purge the world of his own cursed blood line, Alucard attempts to repress his vampiric powers and enter in to what was meant to be an eternal slumber.
“However, with no Belmonts to storm the castle and address the evil in his homeland, Alucard awakens from his self-induced sleep and decides to investigate what transpired during his slumber.”
