It Would Take Five Years To Get All Of Kiriko’s Unlocks In Overwatch 2

Overwatch has gone free-to-play and rebranded as Overwatch 2, and that means there's now a battle pass, paid cosmetics, and the removal of loot boxes, but that doesn't make it any easier to get those cosmetics. As it turns out, it could take upward of five years to get all of Kiriko's nonseasonal unlocks.

Kiriko is Overwatch 2's newest hero and one fan crunched the numbers to figure out how long it would take to earn all her cosmetics without sales, deals, or events. She has five skins, three emotes, five souvenirs, five weapon charms, two victory poses, nine voice lines, ten paid sprays, two highlight intros, and two Twitch drops that require 11 hours of watch time.

That's pretty standard for Overwatch, but how you unlock all of this has changed – now, you need to earn coins, not loot boxes. You can get 60 coins a week for free, otherwise, you have to buy them. In total, all of those cosmetics cost 15,600 coins plus that previously mentioned 11 hours of Twitch watchtime. That's around 260 weeks of grinding for coins – or five years.

You can earn 60 coins by doing weekly challenges which add up to 540 a season. So that means you'd have to play 28 seasons straight for one character, not counting any new ones that arrive over the course of Overwatch 2's run. Granted, you won't be able to get everything for free – that's the nature of free-to-play – but it does mean the grind will be much, much tougher. For skins alone, of which there are five, you need 2,200 coins, which translates to 36 weeks.

Without deals, 100 coins sell for $1, so even if you forked out the big bucks, that'll cost you $156 for all cosmetics. So either you spend a lot of money or spend a lot of your time.
