Kojima Productions announced yesterday it plans to help Ukrainian refugees, and now we know how it plans to do it.
In a tweet posted today, Kojima Productions announced plans to sell the "Ludens Peace Mark Unit" with all proceeds "donated directly to those who have evacuated from Ukraine to Japan." The charm is made of aluminum alloy in the shape of a peace sign, can be hung from various objects thanks to a nylon strap, and mimics the peace buckle of Ludens, Kojima Productions’ mascot.
The Death Stranding studio is working with Immigration Services Agency of Japan to ensure all proceeds go directly to Ukrainians fleeing violence in their home country.
"This is an original charm made of duralumin featuring the peace mark-shaped buckle of ‘Ludens’, the symbolic character of Kojima Productions," reads the product listing. "It comes with a strap hole and a strap so you can attach it to your car or house keys, bags, pouches, etc."
Each charm is priced at $40 USD (or 5,000 Japanese Yen), with shipping expected in August. Pre-orders are available now.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine is now in its fourth month, with no sign of ending any time soon. Russian and Ukrainian forces continue intense fighting in the Donbas region, with the Russian military advancing on the strategically important cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.
The war in Ukraine has killed thousands and displaced millions, with local game developers forced to relocate their offices in order to flee the fighting. Russia has come under intense sanctions and numerous international companies have cut ties with the belligerent country. The games industry has raised almost $200 million in aid for Ukraine ($100 million of which came from Fortnite alone), but the World Bank has estimated the damage to be over $60 billion as of two months ago.
