Microsoft and Sony better make way for a new contender, as the world’s newest video games console is endorsed by Colonel Saunders.
The PlayStation 5 reveal might have been all very exciting, but it wasn’t the only new video game console unveiled last week, as another multinational giant tries to muscle in on the games industry.
The KFConsole can run true 4K games at 120fps, has cross-platform compatibility, and… a ‘chicken chamber’ to cook yourself a nice meal while you play.
It’s a joke, of course, but KFC put enough effort into it in order to have Microsoft tweet them a reply and we’re sure plenty of people are wondering what’s going to happen on the 12 November date mentioned in the video.
Which, depending on your preferences, is one better than the free tabletop role-playing game that Wendy’s invented at around the same time.
In that sense this new video is actually less of an effort than it first seems, although it does show how generic console reveals have got that up until the bit about having a built-in oven it almost seems like it’s real.
We’re not sure how that oven was going to work though. Is the console supposed to sit under your TV? As Microsoft points out, it doesn’t look like it can go on its side and wouldn’t there be tons of smoke and steam coming out the top of it?
We’re not sure what is going to happen on 12 November, but that’s close to the time the Xbox Series X an PlayStation 5 will be released, so KFC will probably have a lot more to make fun of by then, once we learn more about each console’s full games line-up.
