PS5 pre-order latest as PS4 gamers get positive PlayStation 5 release update

It seems like retailers around the globe are gearing up for the launch of PS5 Pre-Order pages, with the console launch just months away. While nothing new has been shared directly by Sony on the subjects, fans have been taking note of a few interesting tweets being sent out. The latest comes from the Walmart Canada Twitter account, warning gamers that they should be preparing for the launch of PlayStation 5 Pre-Order, the best way being to sign up for alerts.

Several global retailers are doing the same, with Walmart Canada posting this message in late July:

“Are you ready for #PS5 pre-orders to open up? Stay in the loop to secure a #PlayStation5 on Day One by signing up for updates on”

There’s nothing here to suggest that something will be happening in July but it’s always worth keeping an eye out for the latest PlayStation 5 chatter.

PlayStation’s Worldwide Head of Marketing Eric Lempel recently confirmed that Sony would let gamers know when PS5 Pre-Orders are going to go live.

Speaking to Geoff Keighley on the subject of PlayStation 5 rumours, Lempel explained: “It’s safe to say… We’ll let you know when pre-order [s] will happen. We will let you know. It’s not going to happen within a minute’s notice,” Lempel said.

“We’re going to let you know, at some point, when you can pre-order PlayStation 5. Please don’t feel like you have to run out and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that’ll work.”

It’s believed in August a new State of Play will be broadcast, detailing more on first and third party games heading to the PS5.

One of the titles that is rumoured to be getting showcased is a Silent Hill reboot, which allegedly will be exclusive to the PS5.

While we may also get a Final Fantasy announcement from Square Enix, possibly an FF16 reveal or the first look at Part 2 of the FF7 Remake.

Something that gamers can rule out is last-minute issues concerning the PlayStation 5 release date due to a shortage of console hardware for the PS5 from AMD.

This was confirmed by AMD CEO Lisa Su earlier this month and will come as a relief to those hoping to buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X this year.

“We delivered strong second-quarter results, led by record notebook and server processor sales as Ryzen and EPYC revenue more than doubled from a year ago,” said Dr Lisa Su, AMD president and CEO.

“Despite some macroeconomic uncertainty, we are raising our full-year revenue outlook as we enter our next phase of growth driven by the acceleration of our business in multiple markets.”

For those gamers waiting for next-gen news, Phil Spencer has confirmed more Xbox news is coming in August so next month could be shaping up to be very interesting indeed.
