You better boot up the store fast, because Fall Guys will be taken off the PlayStation Plus service tomorrow. Claim the game for free and claw your way to the crown!
The monumental battle royale hit is leaving the PlayStation Plus service as a free title and will be replaced by next month’s games: PUBG and Street Fighter V on September 1. Fall Guys is regularly $19.99.
Armies of people have downloaded the game through PlayStation Plus already, as Fall Guys was the most downloaded game ever for the service, beating out big titles like Rocket League, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Just like Rocket League, the game generated plenty of word-of-mouth from those who played it via PlayStation Plus. It had so much in fact, that the game has sold over 7 million copies on Steam. It has been Devolver Digital’s most successful title in its history, which none of us saw coming.
If you decide to download the game for free today with your PlayStation Plus subscription, you should know that Fall Guys will be supported by the developer Mediatonic with incoming seasons and new game modes. Season 2 will have a medieval theme with wizard robes, dragon skins, and armor. It will also have levels inspired by that era.
Fall Guys is definitely worth your time. It features a unique, goofy atmosphere within the normally-gritty battle royale genre. Likely inspired by whacky game shows such as Wipeout, Takeshi’s Castle, and It’s A Knockout – you and 59 other players try to be the last bean standing in a game show setting. You’ll have to race, avoid obstacles, and triumph in both solo and team-based activities to win! It’s easy to get cracking with pick-up-and-play controls in this chaotic moshpit.
Fall Guys is currently available for PS4 and PC, and the developer has said that there are no plans for an Xbox One and Switch currently. “Right now our real focus is on making the PlayStation and PC games as good as they possibly can be,” said Joe Walsh, the game’s lead designer to Gary Whitta, “We really have to build trust with the community now and make sure they believe that we can support this game and make it really good.”
