Red Dead Redemption 2 is another one of those games players keep discovering new things in, even years later. In this case, it was revealed that one of the beloved characters in the RDR series has been deceiving players for a long time.
Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption series is tightly connected to John Marston, the protagonist of the first game, and Arthur Morgan’s partner in the second entry. John Marston differs considerably from other typical characters thanks to his voice, scars, and many other attributes. And yet, one of his most iconic traits is his inability to swim. However, one player accidentally ruined that myth in Red Dead Redemption 2, proving that Marston was a liar all along.
As Arthur Morgan, players often do missions side by side with John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2. While doing so, one player demonstrates that John Marston can swim after all. Redditor alexgiiraud posted a video from a train robbery when Marston, Dutch, and Morgan run through the railroad bridge. The player pushes John Marston, who fell down and quickly ended up in the river. But rather than go down and trigger the mission failure, John safely swims to the nearest shore. Check out the video for yourself:
The Redditor was quite surprised by this outcome. He even drew his gun and shot at John Marston, to ensure this is not some kind of a glitch. Marston successfully reached the shore and made it to his horse to continue the mission as if nothing had happened.
That incident doesn’t actually mean John has been lying to his gang and us the whole time. You can watch his awkward attempts to swim by climbing into the water yourself, playing as Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2’s epilogue. The more likely scenario is that Rockstar devs deliberately have given all NPCs the same animations and behaviors during the story missions, so that’s why John Marston acted so unexpectedly.
Red Dead Redemption 2 hosts plenty of strange glitches and bizarre encounters, like NPC’s eyes popping out from their heads when they’re sitting on a bench. It is only a matter of time before players discover something even more intriguing than Marston’s true nature.
