GTA 6 is the game everyone wants to know more about, with rumours regularly circulating regarding its eventual release date.
The latest predictions made by analysts is that Rockstar Games will not announce the next Grand Theft Auto game until 2022.
And new rumours regarding the GTA 6 release date suggests it could be an even bigger wait ahead for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC gamers.
It sounds risky when you hear that Rockstar could be willing to hold off until 2023 to launch the next GTA game, making it a full decade since the last one arrived.
But when you find out how popular GTA Online remains across all platforms, it does make it at least possible.
As revealed earlier this week by Rockstar Games, GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption remain huge success stories that continue to grow.
In 2020, GTA Online set a new all-time high in player numbers, while over half of GTA Online players who took on El Rubio’s compound on Cayo Perico decided to do it alone, embracing the new ability to take on a Heist solo for the first time
A message from Rockstar Games adds: “From everyone here at Rockstar Games, we would like to thank the community for playing with us throughout a year that was unlike any other.
“Whether it was plotting an offshore raid on a fortified tropical island or documenting the wonders of the frontier’s animal kingdom, it has been incredible to see the community come together as we continued to expand and evolve both GTA Online and Red Dead Online.
“The feedback has been incredible, and we are grateful to everyone who played with us in what we are extremely humbled to say was yet another record-breaking year for both games.
GTA Online: Rockstar Games tease The Cayo Perico Heist
“GTA Online shattered its own records once again, with more players than any previous year. Red Dead Online also experienced more players, and more new players, this past December than any time since the launch of the beta.
“Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 also broke records for video views in 2020 — a huge thank you goes out to our dedicated content creators on YouTube for their funny, skilful, and artful creations that keep us coming back for more.
“Alongside those achievements, the launch of The Cayo Perico Heist broke new ground with the ability to play through a Heist solo — adding an exciting dimension that players eagerly embraced, with just over half of everyone who raided El Rubio’s compound deciding to go it alone.”
Meanwhile, the latest rumour comes from an online post, meaning it needs to be taken with a big pinch of salt.
In terms of a GTA 6 release date, the alleged leaker said the target window for the new GTA game’s launch is October 2023.
They said the console versions are being prioritised first with an optimised PC build releasing afterwards.
And they said the GTA 6 reveal announcement could happen as early as spring 2022.
However, it’s important to point out this GTA 6 ‘leak’ originated from the notorious internet message board 4chan.
So while this could prove to be correct, everything remains a mere report until Rockstar Games shares its own plans.
