Xbox Will Match Microsoft Reward Points When Donating To UNICEF

PlayStation and Nintendo console owners may be unaware, but for those who play on Xbox Microsoft has a reward scheme called Microsoft Rewards. Those who join the scheme can rack up points and then redeem their points on the Redeem page or on the Rewards app on Xbox consoles to spend their points. Now, Microsoft has pledged that through April 30 donated Microsoft Rewards points to UNICEF will be matched, therefore doubling their impact.

UNICEF has highlighted their emergency response efforts in Ukraine, and thanked Xbox for boosting UNICEF's efforts in a Tweet.

In addition, Xbox has said it is joining Epic "in support of the people of Ukraine by contributing net proceeds for Fortnite". Epic announced today that it is committing all its Fortnite proceeds from today through to April 3 to humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine.

A commentator below UNICEF's Tweet noted that there is currently a punch card available on the Microsoft Rewards app that allows users to claim points and donate to UNICEF.

Ways to earn Microsoft Rewards points on Xbox include playing games from the Xbox Game Pass library, completing activities, renting Microsoft films and TV shows, downloading new apps, completing surveys, buying games, completing quizzes and polls. Gamers can also earn points by searching on Bing. More information on this reward scheme can be found on the official Xbox page here.

Numerous members of the games industry have shown their support of Ukraine, in a variety of ways, whether it's by making donations or boycotting Russia, with the list growing ever longer. Companies such as PlayStation, Itchi.io, Square Enix, CD Projekt, Bandai Namco, Humble Bundle, 11 Bit Studios, The Pokemon Company, among others, have all pledged their support.
