Apex Legends is getting a new event, and this one will take players all the way back to Kings Canyon. Called System Override Collection, it will feature one new item, plenty of exclusive cosmetics, and a new game mode that completely changes how loot works.
The event’s main draw is the new mode called Deja Loot. Unlike traditional Apex Legends matches — or any battle royale matches, for that matter — in this mode loot does not randomly spawn in. Instead, all of the loot on the map is static and will be for the entire event. That means if you find a perfect little spot with an R-301 and Purple Body Shield, you can drop there every game and always start with the same loadout. But if you find a good spot, someone else may know about it and be ready to fight over the loot.
Deja Loot will be a limited time mode and only one part of the event, for now. The first week it will be available on the World’s Edge map, while the second week it migrates to the game’s original map, Kings Canyon. This is the second time in recent memory that Kings Canyon has been brought back for Apex Legends fans. It showed up earlier this month as part of a limited playlist.
In celebration of this new mode, Respawn Entertainment is adding a new item to Apex Legends that will be exclusive to Deja Loot. The item is called an Evo Shield. The Evo Shield is a new type of armor for Apex, and to start out with it’s even weaker than the White Body Shield. However, the more damage you do to enemies who aren’t downed, the more powerful the Evo Shield becomes. Eventually, at its maximum strength, the shield is stronger than even the Purple Body Shield. Making the item even more enticing is the fact that its strength will carry over from player to player, making it especially strong in the late game.
System Override Collection will also have an exclusive Event prize pool, where players can play matches to earn progress toward new rewards that all fit the System Override theme. Of course, there will also be new event cosmetic items that players can get through Event Apex Packs.
Apex Legends’ System Override Collection event will begin on March 3 and last until March 17. For a closer look at all the changes coming with the event, you can check out Respawn’s full blog post.
