The end of each year is awards season for a lot of industries and the virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR) industry is no different. 2020 has been a year of change and so VRFocus is doing something a little different, holding its very first awards event which we want everyone to be a part of.
Called The Better-Than-Reality Awards, this is a chance for you to vote across eight categories for your favourite VR hardware, videogame, influencer and more. In fact, whilst VRFocus has listed nominations there’s also an open entry section should you wish to make your own nomination.
The categories are:
- Most Promising XR Startups
- Top XR Influencer
- Favourite VR Hardware
- Best VR Game of 2020
- Best Enterprise Solution
- Best AR Application
- Best LBE Experience
- Global Impact Award
Voting is open to all VRFocus readers, closing on 14th December. You are the judge, there won’t be any industry professionals selected to cast the final decision, so each vote will count towards the final winner. To help promote the awards VRFocus has enlisted industry ambassadors for each category, encouraging their VR fans to make their voices heard.
It’s been a roller coaster of a year for all parts of the XR industry, some doing great whilst others have struggled during the pandemic. With many across the world stuck at home, everyone has looked for remote ways to stay in contact or new entertainment avenues, which has helped VR sales. On the flip side, the location-based entertainment (LBE) industry which was doing so well has been severely hit, currently looking at news ways to reopen.
So as 2020 draws to a close VRFocus hope you’ll spend a couple of minutes on The Better-Than-Reality Awards page giving a little nod to those in XR who work so hard creating amazing immersive content for everyone to enjoy.
